MILANI DESIGN & CONSULTING COMPANY HISTORY

Permanently changing since 1963

Milani is something of a paradox – a company that can look back on a long history of innovation. Born of product design, we are constantly differentiating ourselves from the competition – that’s what keeps us young.

Francesco Milani opened his studio for industrial design and visual communication in Giubiasco, in the canton of Ticino, in 1963.

In the 1960s, the founder would turn Milani into the top agency in Europe for highly complex medical technology design.

The forerunner to the smart watch: Milani developed the innovative concept of a moon watch with additional functions all the way back in 1970.

Milani designs the first modern Tetra packaging for Switzerland in the 1970s.

Chocolat suisse: alongside the field of medical technology, Milani began branching out increasingly into other areas.

The Milani archive was taken over by the Swiss Federal Office for Culture "Swiss Design".

In 1997, designer Britta Pukall began her successful collaboration with Francesco Milani.

In 2002, Britta Pukall became the new owner and took over the management of the company together with Therese Naef. As a result, the agency continues to grow and expand its expertise into new business areas.

In 2008, Milani moved to larger offices in Thalwil, overlooking lake Zurich.

2010 beginnt Milani mit der Spezialisierung auf Design für öffentliche Verkehrsmittel und Tourismus und etabliert sich als führender Designpartner im Bereich Transportation Design.

In 2014, Milani strengthens its expertise in innovation consulting. The Design Thinking Handbook becomes a bestseller and standard reference.

In 2020, Milani creates a team dedicated to sustainability, specializing in eco-design and the circular economy.

In 2021, we formed the larssoncreative group and have merged with the WILDDESIGN group and evrbit GmbH. We now offer strategic design, sustainability, digital solutions and medical-health expertise united under one roof.

2022 Therese Naef takes over the management of Milani and strengthens the company's focus on sustainable product design and the circular economy.

Milani celebrates its 60th anniversary: Successfully on the market since 1963 with over 3900 projects
