Product innovation in and on the wall: Feller SNAPFIX® and EDIZIO.liv
Together with Feller AG, Milani developed a new end-to-end solution for the Swiss electrical installation industry: with Feller SNAPFIX®, the 70-year-old mounting system was fundamentally simplified, featuring significantly fewer components, shorter installation times, and reduced costs. Complemented by the EDIZIO.liv design line, this resulted in a modular platform that combines technical innovation "in the wall" with timeless design "on the wall".
Feller SNAPFIX® has been awarded the internationally renowned iF Award 2024 and the Red Dot Award 2024.
Challenge: rethinking an outdated system
Feller AG, the leading Swiss technology partner for the electrical installation industry, identified a long-standing market need and set out to simplify the complex installation process in building technology. This process had remained largely unchanged for over 70 years. The traditional mounting system was cumbersome, inflexible, and no longer met the demands of modern building systems.
The goal was to develop a system that radically reduces this complexity, without disrupting the established workflows of installers.
Consistently designed with the user in mind
Working closely together, Feller and Milani have tailored the new SNAPFIX® mounting system to the needs of electricians, electrical installers and planners. The result is a product that fundamentally simplifies work processes in the industry while supporting the way electricians work.
Innovation "in the wall": Feller SNAPFIX® sets new industry standards
With SNAPFIX®, Feller AG sets new benchmarks. The new patented mounting system stands out through its user-friendliness and sustainability. With the red adapter, functions such as switches, sockets, and smart technologies can now be mounted and removed effortlessly for the first time. Instead of 92 different mounting plates, only 9 are needed. The system drastically reduces material waste, cuts installation time by up to 50%, and by up to 80% when switching from a switch to a dimmer, and lowers costs. The ordering process is also significantly simplified.
At the same time, Milani transformed an otherwise inconspicuous mounting system into a thoughtfully designed object. The distinctive red adapter becomes a visual highlight on any construction site and ensures strong brand recognition. Red lettering on the mounting plate reinforces the premium look, while pictograms support electricians during correct installation.
By radically rethinking the system, a compelling and user-friendly solution was created. It makes the entire installation process noticeably more efficient and delivers value across the entire value chain, from electricians, planners, and contractors to wholesalers and ultimately end users.
Innovation "on the wall": Timeless product design for a new generation of switches and sockets
Feller AG is not only setting new standards "in the wall", but also "on the wall". Together with Milani, Feller simultaneously launched a revised design line for a new generation of switches, sockets and smart technologies. Here, too, the focus was on the user-centricity: Milani conducted extensive market research to tailor the new design line to the needs of architects, interior designers and end users. It became obvious that there was a clear need for contemporary design, minimalism and durability.
Modular design platform with outstanding durability
The Feller EDIZIO.liv design line, created by Milani, impresses with its minimalist charm and attention to detail. The clear design language and subtle color concept blend perfectly into any environment. For the first time in Feller's history, the discreet logo is visible on the cover frame and as a motif on the back, ensuring high brand recognition.
As a modular platform, EDIZIO.liv offers high customizability, ease of use, and exceptional durability. All elements are intuitive to use and easy to clean. Customers can combine over 130 elements and always benefit from a harmonious overall look. EDIZIO.liv can be extended with the EDIZIO.liv prestige design line, made of fine real materials such as glass and chrome steel, and with the EDIZIOdue elegance finishes, both also from Milani.
The result is a timeless, modular design that, together with the high quality workmanship, guarantees a product life of 30 to 40 years. Today, EDIZIO.liv is made of 15 percent recycled material, and up to 40 percent by 2025.
