Medical product design and packaging for Hamilton nasal cannulas
User-centric medical design of the new nasal In2Flow cannulas
Hamilton Medical’s focus for the Swiss market was to ensure that every aspect of the new In2Flow nasal cannulas was centered on optimizing patient comfort, ease of use and high performance – right from product design through to packaging.
Adopting a clear user-centric approach, Milani conducted extensive research into the needs of patients and healthcare professionals, and tested several prototypes in hospitals across Europe and the United States.
The design was then modified according to user feedback. The In2Flow is optimized in terms of ergonomics and anthropometry to ensure that the nasal cannula and twin strap headgear are suitable for diverse body shapes and provide the most comfortable fit possible for patients.
Intelligent packaging design for easier use and increased hygiene
Milani developed intelligent packaging that is an essential element of the In2Flow interface. Color coding and a printed scale of the prongs make it easy for doctors and nurses to select the right size quickly before even opening the packaging. In addition, the cannula can be safely stored in the packaging for re-use on the same patient. This increases infection prevention and hygiene in hospitals and contributes to a more sustainable use of the packaging.
