Interior design for the first Starbucks on rails
Commissioned by Starbucks and the SBB, Milani developed the interior design of the first mobile Starbucks Coffeehouse aboard SBB's IC 2000 trains.

Adaptation of the Starbucks corporate design for SBB restaurant carriages
Starbucks and SBB partnered to launch a revolutionary pilot project: the first mobile Starbucks restaurant and café on rails. Milani was commissioned by Starbucks and SBB to adapt two Intercity train restaurants and bistros.
Working closely with Starbucks head designer Liz Muller, Milani was responsible for transferring the Starbucks Coffeehouse concept to a train environment. The particular challenge lay in reconciling restrictive rail safety requirements with the Starbucks Coffeehouse concept. There was also the task of bringing two very different corporate cultures with strong brands together.

The interior design of the world's first mobile Starbucks Coffeehouse
The result was impressive: the world's first Starbucks coffeehouse on rails, travelling between St Gallen and Geneva. Passengers were given the authentic Starbucks experience, with all the familiar comforts and conveniences. The coffeehouse train is enhanced by high-quality materials and thoughtful details, ensuring a comfortable stay. Thanks to its unique use of real materials and innovative material combinations, as well as the integration of sliding seats, the new interior design stands out in the railway world.
