100 % user-centric: Medical product innovation and service world for Essity
These days, patients and healthcare professionals expect more than just a product. Working with Essity, one of the world's leading hygiene and healthcare companies, Milani developed an entire world around two new product lines, including the design of new services. The needs of all key stakeholders were considered with the patients' needs foremost in mind.
Needs analysis and co-creation with patients and healthcare professionals
How can the quality of life of patients suffering from chronic illness be improved with relevant products and services? Together with Essity, Milani developed several innovation concepts around this question using an iterative approach. The key challenge lay in ensuring that the needs of all stakeholders were met in the best possible way.
As a first step, Milani identified the needs of patients as well as doctors and other medical professionals through numerous interviews and analyses. The insights were then translated into appropriate product and service concepts.
By using a co-creation approach, Milani directly engaged key stakeholders in the innovation process. Product and service ideas were designed, tested and further developed in collaboration with patients and a panel of senior medical experts. As a result, proposed solutions were put to the test as early as the development phase and aligned with the needs of the market.
Designing a 360° product and service world
As well as developing a new innovative core product, Milani worked with Essity to design an entire world of new services that improve the quality of life for patients and their families, and support healthcare professionals in patient care.
Milani involved interdisciplinary and international teams at Essity throughout the projects, over several months. This led to stronger internal support and significantly increased employee identification with the innovation projects.
