Corporate identity and product design for FAES
Milani developed a new, strategic brand positioning for FAES, a global market leader in slitting and rewinding machines. The result: Transformation from a nondescript, confusing, generic range of machines to a clearly structured system with clear differentiating features and a high recognition effect. The comprehensive implementation of the new "FAES profile" encompasses not only the products themselves, but also the company's website, literature (brochures), trade fair stand and PR (trade press articles).
Not long after its market launch, "system yellow", one of the new-generation machines, was awarded the 2008 iF Product Design Award.
Meeting different market demands using an interactive design process
Milani’s interactive engineering and design process produced a new, modular machine system. In close collaboration with FAES, Milani developed a new system featuring seven individual machines. These enable FAES to respond effectively to different market requirements.
Corporate product design with color system
The new modular range comprises seven application and demand-oriented machines that are easily distinguished via a color-coded system. The use of colors in both product and corporate design simplifies the classification as well as the recognizability of the different machines and creates a high level of product recognition. A panel installed at the front of each machine ensures easy access to different functions and enables series production.
Milani also emotionalized the names within the product system. Instead of a series of numbers, the new names are identical to the color design of each machine.
Creation of a distinctive brand identity
In addition to the products themselves, the new FAES brand identity was also adopted for all key communication tools, including the company’s website, literature (brochures), trade show stand and PR (trade press articles). Through this, an independent and distinctive brand identity emerged with high recognition value across all touchpoints.
