Exceptional travel experience with the new rail cars from Rigi Bahnen
Working together with Rigi Bahnen and in cooperation with Stadler Rail, Milani has developed both the interior and exterior design of the latest rail car generation. This design focuses on user-friendliness, sustainability and an exceptional travel experience.
Exterior and interior train design with homage to Rigi’s heritage
The latest train generation of Rigi Bahnen trains shines in the elegant colors white, black and pearl beige. This is a homage to Rail Car No. 6, the oldest electric cogwheel rail car in the world. Milani has taken this heritage and given it a fresh interpretation, creating a simple and timeless design.
In designing the vehicle, Milani placed great emphasis on user-friendliness and the passenger experience. The low floor area allows barrier-free access for all passengers. The interior is bright and warm with materials and colors that complement the Rigi area. The tilting carriage fronts draw the eye up towards the mountain and, together with the large drop windows running along the sides of the train, offer exceptional views of the breathtaking landscape. A recliner right by the train driver is a particular highlight.
Designing an exceptional train travel experience
In vehicle design, Milani placed great emphasis on usability and the train travel experience. The low-floor area allows all guests barrier-free access. The interior is designed to be bright and warm, with materials and colors that match the Rigi. The fronts of the cars facing upward direct the view towards the mountain and, together with the large drop-down windows on the sides of the train, offer a unique view of the breathtaking landscape. A bed next to the locomotive driver is a special highlight.
Resource-efficient trains
The new rail car generation manufactured by Stadler Rail also delivers improvements regarding sustainability. When existing trains travel downhill, braking energy converts to heat that is then lost, whereas the new generation feeds this energy back into its own power grid. This means that trains traveling uphill can be resource-efficient in their operation.
