Smart home and IoT strategy
Milani supported the development of a smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) strategy for a leading Swiss manufacturing company operating in the global heating and ventilation market.
Strengthening market positioning
The leading Swiss manufacturing company sought to develop a smart home and Internet of Things strategy. The challenge was to remain competitive in terms of networked devices and find new sources of revenue. Although smaller individual projects had already been undertaken, the company has never approached IoT comprehensively and needed to address the extensive interdependencies across several areas. What functions and interfaces would B2B and B2C customers look for in future? Should an in-house smart home standard be introduced or should the company incorporate existing ones?
Front-end innovation and development of smart home and IoT strategy
The company commissioned Milani to work with an interdisciplinary trans-European team to develop a smart home and IoT strategy. The project, which spanned several months, included multiple interactive workshops in Switzerland as well as field research in different countries by individual team members. In addition, sales companies from several countries were integrated into the project.
Accelerated implementation thanks to interdisciplinary, agile approach
The sprint team and Milani developed a smart home and IoT strategy and defined a related roadmap. At the end of the project cycle, the new strategy was approved by the Executive Board and received a substantial part of the proposed budget. The interdisciplinary, agile approach and the strategic involvement of stakeholder in the markets contributed significantly to accelerating the implementation process.
